DAVID R. NOBS

David R. Nobs, 67, of Grand Rapids, Minn. died suddenly Monday, June 18, 2012, at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis. He had been diagnosed with cancer just four days earlier.

David R. Nobs, 67, of Grand Rapids, Minn., died suddenly Monday, June 18, 2012, at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis. He had been diagnosed with cancer just four days earlier.

Dave was born in Pipestone, Minn., on July 5, 1944, to Donald and Marie Nobs.

Dave graduated from Grand Rapids High School in 1962 and from Itasca Junior College in 1966. He was married to Paula Hritz in Grand Rapids in 1966. Dave served in the U.S. Air Force from 1966 to 1970. He worked for Qwest Communications until his retirement in 2001.

Dave thoroughly enjoyed his retirement, spending lots of time fishing and hunting, enjoying family and friends, and working with local youth as a Youth Firearms Safety Instructor and with the youth day activities at the Deer River Sportsmans Club. He was active in the Grand Rapids Gun Club, Optimists Club, Ducks Unlimited and T.I.P.

Dave is survived by his wife Paula; daughter Sherri of Grand Rapids; son Bryan (Kristin); and his two very special grandchildren, Adam and Annika of Mound, Minn. Also surviving Dave are his sister Joan (Martin) Krulc, Aurora, Minn.; his mother-in-law Ella Mae (Ray) Kisslinger; brother-in-law Tom (Dee) Hritz of Buford, Ga.; sister-in-law Becky (Tom) Markwardt, Grand Rapids, Minn.; several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, aunts, an uncle, several cousins and many dear and wonderful friends.

VISITATION: 1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. memorial service on Sunday, July 1, 2012 in St. Andrew's Lutheran Church, 501 NW 16th St., Grand Rapids, MN. Memorials are preferred to the family.
