Lucille Eileen Mathisen Rustad, 88, passed away peacefully at Chris Jensen Rehabilitation Center on Monday, June 25, 2012.

Lucille Eileen Mathisen Rustad, 88, passed away peacefully at Chris Jensen Rehabilitation Center on Monday, June 25, 2012.

Lucille was born in Alborn, Minn., on Feb. 3, 1924 to the late Lester and Adele (Audette) Mathisen.

She graduated from Alborn High School in 1942 as Salutatorian of her class. Lucille then attended College of St. Scholastica and received a degree in Social Work.

Lucille met her husband, Everett Rustad, while both worked at Scenic Point Resort, just outside of Two Harbors. They married and had seven children, making Two Harbors their home.

Lucille worked at her parents store in Alborn, as housekeeper at Scenic Point and clerk at James Drug Store in Two Harbors, then as cook at St. Ann's in Duluth, ending with 26 years as a Social worker for St. Louis County.

Lucille loved traveling, playing cards and digging up her dandelions in the spring! She was a volunteer driver and also delivered meals to the elderly. Later, she volunteered at the gift shop at Chris Jensen. Lucille also really enjoyed her pets, Scruffy and Shorty.

Lucille was preceded in death by her parents; ex-husband, Everett; a son, Randy; a grandson, Anthony; brothers, Allen, Roland and Leslie; and her sister, Gladys.

She is survived by three sons, Philip (Sue), Siren, Wis, Larry (Tami), Duluth, and Danny (Nancy), Plymouth, Minn.; three daughters, Sandra Lind, Peggy (Jan) Wren and Debby Putney, all of Duluth; 18 grandchildren; 19.5 great-grandchildren; a brother, Alvin (Jean) Mathisen, Salt Lake City, Utah; a sister, Dorothy Fosness and sister-in-law, Irene Lueck, Duluth; along with many nieces, nephews and extended family.

VISITATION: 1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. memorial service Friday, June 29, in Cremation Society of Minnesota, 4100 Grand Avenue. Inurnment will be at Alborn Cemetery at a later date.

RIP auntie Lucille. You will be missed. Please say hi to grandpa for me....and kick his butt in cribbage! Love you.
