Sandra (Sandy) Earline Welch, 59, passed this life on Thursday, June 14, 2012 in Baton Rouge, La.
She was born on Feb. 11, 1953 in Alexander, La. to her parents Eddie Earl Mays and Margie Christine Mays.
Sandy attended high school at Deer Park High School in Pasadena, Texas. After school she met and married the love of her life Les Welch at the Houston Rodeo Halloween Costume Party in 1986 and they were married in 1987. Les and Sandy started LW Survey Company in 1998 in Duluth, Minn.. After getting married, Sandy and Les traveled on business together for many years until they settled down in Hermantown, Minn. in 1998. She was involved with the business and served on the LW Survey Board as well as taking care of the family. She always enjoyed meeting new clients and working with the company's employees, she often referred to her many business acquaintances as "the family on the road". She attended San Jacinto College in Houston, Texas where she earned an associate's degree in Computer Science in 1985. Sandy loved horses, during her younger years she was a professional barrel racer on the Houston Rodeo Circuit. She was a very caring wife, mother and she was always very supportive of her children and their activities and pushed them to succeed in life. She was a wonderful grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Les and Sandy loved spending time at their lake home in Wagoner, Oklahoma where they enjoyed swimming and boating with family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents Eddie Mays and Margie Pennington, her step mother Vera Mays and one sister Freida Mays.
She is survived by her loving husband Les Welch and family; daughter, Leslie Welch and her significant other Jason Haydon of Hermantown; son, Koby Welch and his significant other Kaley Cooke of Hermantown; step-son Dustin Griffis of Ada, Okla.; step-daughter Melissa Welch of El Paso, Texas; sister, Cindy Chatelain of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; five grandchildren, SandraJean, Allen, Kristina, Dustin and Dyenstiney; and several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law of Wagoner, Okla. along with other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
FUNERAL SERVICE: for Sandy will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at Shipman Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Bobby Sowers officiating.
