Arthur D. "Bear Trapper" Massie, 81, of Arnold Rd. died Thursday, May 31, 2012 at St. Luke's Hospice.

Arthur D. "Bear Trapper" Massie, 81, of Arnold Rd. died Thursday, May 31, 2012 at St. Luke's Hospice.

Art was born Jan. 21, 1931 in Duluth to Arthur and Helen (Johnston) Massie.

Art owned and operated Art D. Massie Company's, Barnum Milk for 42 years.

He was a member of Glen Avon Presbyterian Church and he loved hunting and fishing and spending time with family and friends at the deer shack.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Cynthia Hurtig; siblings Janice Engeseth and Phillip Massie.

Art is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Betty; sons, Dale (Bev) and Scott (Deb) both of Duluth and Wayne (Pam) of Breezy Point, Minn.; grandchildren, Heidi (Jessie) Fleischer, Kelli (Ryan) Tuhkanan, Amy Massie and Kyle (Dawn) Claus; great grandchildren, Brooklyn, Karsen, Anika, Brecken and Lilly.

VISITATION: 10 a.m. Monday with Services at 11 a.m. in Glen Avon Presbyterian Church, 2105 Woodland Ave. Duluth. Memorials may be directed to St. Luke's Hospice or the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, Grand Central Station, Box 4777, NY, NY 10163-4777. Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home, (218) 727-3555.

So sorry to hear of your loss. Art was a great guy - I remember many years ago when I was a teenager going up to the deer shack snowmobiling in the winter. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.
