HOWARD RICHARD EBERT, SR.

Howard R. Ebert, Sr., 75, passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at St. Mary's Hospice, surrounding by his family.

Howard R. Ebert, Sr., 75, passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at St. Mary's Hospice, surrounding by his family.

Howard was born Feb. 26, 1937 in Two Harbors, Minn., to Howard and Margaret (Rasmussen) Ebert.

He graduated from Two Harbors High School. He was drafted into the Army and served during the Korean Conflict. He worked for St. Louis County as an equipment operator until his retirement. He married Ann Gambrel on Oct. 19, 1957 and lived in Duluth and the Meadowlands area where they raised their children. They were blessed with many grandchildren who they loved very much.

Howard enjoyed the country life, raising animals, and gardening. Many of his animals became pets and it was hard for him to see them leave. He enjoyed his Vikings and Twins, and pretty much all sports. He especially enjoyed his Sunday get-togethers with family and friends in the "Beer Garden".

He was predeceased by his wife Ann; his father Howard; and his son-in-law Jeff Otten.

Howard is survived by his mother, Margaret Ebert, Meadowlands, Minn.; three brothers Jerry Ebert, Phoenix, Ariz., Fran Ebert, Union City, Calif., Bob Ebert, Henderson, Nev.; two sisters: Jennifer Shields, Arizona, Evonne Lisace, Arizona; five children Margie (Jeff) Dunder of Meadowlands, Minn., Howard (Michelle) Ebert of Simsbury, Conn., Tim (Bobbie) Ebert of Colorado Springs, Colo., Rick (Melissa) Ebert of Meadowlands, Minn., Pam Otten of Meadowlands, Minn., Anita (Jay) Holbein of Duluth; 12 grandchildren Jesse, Jennifer, and Jacklyn Otten, Timothy Ebert, Mark Cox, Steven Morterud, Caden Ebert, Eric Dunder, Logan Ebert, Rachel, Alora, and Kevin Holbein; one great-grandchild Emma Morterud; and his good friend Brenda Burle. He also leaves behind his beloved dogs Jazzie, Lola, and Tinker.

MEMORIAL SERVICE: 11 a.m. Saturday, May 26, 2012 in the Meadowlands Community Center, Meadowlands. Military honor guard will be present. A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family.

So sorry to hear of Howie passing. I enjoyed working with him. He always liked to laugh and would tell some good stories. He will be missed. Ron Garden
