Our dear mom, Gloria DeGrio passed away in The Lord's presence on April 2nd, 2012 at Chris Jensen Rehab unit.
Gloria was born in Pontiac Michigan on Nov. 20, 1929.
She moved to Duluth as a child, and lived in Homecroft. She was out on her own at 15, and wanted to work to help her family.
She was married to Pat DeGrio in 1948. She made a cozy home for her family in the hills of Duluth along West Skyline Parkway. Times were hard. They lived in a three room cabin for five years with a woodstove and outdoor facilities.
Gloria loved nature, all animals, birds, and flowers. She loved her three children immensely and was so proud of them. Her smile, strength, humor and childlike innocence will never be forgotten.
She is preceded in death by her husband Pat DeGrio, mother Dagney Nelson, father Arley Nelson, and brother Kenneth Nelson.
Gloria is survived by her children Pamm (Todd) Collins, Laurie (Jim) Mattson, and Rollie (Allison MacArthur) DeGrio, brothers; Robert Nelson, Richard (Dolores) Nelson, grandchildren; Ashley (Robert) Sullivan, Dusty (Samantha) Collins, Maloree Mattson (Dustin Overfors), Dakota Collins, Anna Collins, and Kelly Lund; great-grandchildren Brody and Skeet Sullivan, and new baby boy to be born, and also many life-long friends, niece, nephews and cousins.
Thank you to St. Eligius, Lakeshore, all the doctors and nurses St. Luke's 4th floor and especially Chris Jensen.
SERVICE: 2 p.m. Saturday, April 14, in the Cremation Society of MN. with a visitation one hour prior.

Mom, the past is a blessing...the time spent with you a gift....the future is sad without you...but I know that in the arms of the angels and visiting with the Lord, you are at your happiest. I love you always, miss you much, and thankyou for all you are and have done for me.Duluth, MN 04/13/2012 8:16 PM
