ROYAL C. MACKAMAN

Royal C. Mackaman, 98, longtime resident of Duluth, joined his loving wife, Marie on Monday, Jan.

Royal C. Mackaman, 98, longtime resident of Duluth, joined his loving wife, Marie on Monday, Jan. 9, 2012.

He was born June 7, 1913 in Aitkin, Minn., to Fred and Georgia Mackaman.

Royal was a 1930 graduate of Aitkin High School and attended the Jessie Kempton Business School in Duluth. On June 26, 1933 he married Marie Novak and they went to the World's Fair in Chicago for their honeymoon.

Royal retired as the branch manager of Periodical Publishers Service Bureau, a part of the Hearst Corporation, in 1985.

He was an avid fisherman and taught his daughter to fish. They made many trips to several lakes around Minnesota and into Canada.

Royal was preceded in death by his wife, Marie in 1997; his parents; two brothers, Fritz and Gerald and two sisters, Flora Cross and Eva Mackaman.

He is survived by his daughter, Dolores Grivicich, of Duluth; a grandson, Steven Royal Grivicich, of Minneapolis; four sisters, Lenore Bern, of Richland, Wash., Iva Zanker, of Aitkin, Minn., Geraldine Pederson, of White Bear Lake, Minn. and Shirley Meyer, of Aitkin, Minn.; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Memorials are preferred to St. Rose Catholic Church.

VISITATION: 9:30 a.m. until the 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial Friday, Jan. 13, in St. Rose Catholic Church, 3 - 6th Avenue, Proctor. Inurnment will be at the Polish Catholic Cemetery. Please leave a memory of Royal or words of support for the family at www.bellbrothersfuneralhome.com
