Lifelong Duluthian Allen J. Chambers, 63, died Monday, June 29, 2009, because of diabetic complications. Services were held Wednesday. Arrangements were handled by the Cremation Society of Minnesota.
Dorothy Serene Frantz, 86
Dorothy Serene Frantz, 86, of West Tischer Road, died Sunday, June 28, 2009, in her home surrounded by her family. Services were Thursday with burial at Calvary Cemetery. Memorials are preferred and may be directed to the local chapter of the March of Dimes or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home.
Cheryl Lynn Kraak, 57
Cheryl Lynn Kraak, 57, of Duluth, succumbed to cancer Monday, June 29, 2009, at Solvay Hospice House. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Cremation Society of Minnesota, 4100 Grand Ave. A luncheon will follow the services at Blackwoods in Proctor. Call 624-5200 for details.
John Thomas Makkyla, 53
John Thomas Makkyla, 53, died Tuesday, June 30, 2009, surrounded by family in Cloquet. A celebration of his life will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Monday at Cron-Sheehy Funeral Home in Eveleth. Arrangements are being handled by the Cremation Society of Minnesota, 624-5200.

Doris A. Pearson, 79, of Duluth, died Wednesday, June 24, 2009, at Diamond Willow Assisted Living in Proctor. Services were held June 27. Arrangements were handled by the Cremation Society of Minnesota, 624-5200.
