The John G. Munson sits at anchor Thursday morning in the swirling fog on Lake Superior. The ship will be going into winter layup at Fraser Shipyards after the Coast Guard Cutter Alder returns to Duluth today to break ice. The Munson has made a few last deliveries of iron ore across the eastern tip of Lake Superior, according to the Duluth Seaway Port Authority, and her arrival in port today will mark the end of the commercial shipping season on the lake.
