Douglas County Health Department receives donated quilts

Ryan Conlan (right), foster care coordinator for the Douglas County Health Department, received a donation of 10 children’s quilts from Douglas County Home and Community Education HCE Quilt-a-thon coordinator, Sue Hendrickson.

“When children are removed from an unsafe home, they often come with only the clothes on their back; a warm blanket can be a real comfort,” Hendrickson said. The HCE members are able to supply about 100 quilts each year to local service agencies for kids in crisis. Quilts are completed and collected at the Mariner Mall in March each year. Watch for more information on the 2013 HCE Quilt-a-thon scheduled for March 15.
