Dan Hartman, program curator for Veterans Memorial Hall in Duluth, poses with a flag donated to the hall in 1969. The flag was taken from the USS Tennessee after the attack on Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941. Its poor condition helps preserve the story of sailors who had to deal with fires and the fear of drowning.
