A new exhibition of American Indian contemporary art is now open to the public at the Tweed Museum. The exhibition emphasizes how American Indian artists continue to create traditional art while offering new, innovative works as well. “In this exhibit you get to see a very wide spectrum of work. All of these works are done by contemporary artists; their work reflects their relationship with being an American citizen in 2012. It’s an exciting way to get to know some of the artists of this area,” said Dyani Reynolds-White Hawk, who pointed to the work “Synthetic by Nature,” created by Bobby Wilson, as a specific example. The work displays traditional symbolism portrayed on modern skateboards. (Photo by Thomas Vaughn)
