This pipe runs from the City of Washburn waste water treatment plant into the waters of Chequamegon Bay in Lake Superior. The 200,000 to 300,000 gallons of treated sewage that leave the pipe daily are not meeting Wisconsin DNR standards because of a problem with waste-processing bacteria at the water treatment plant that the city has been trying to resolve for the past two years.
