Jennifer and Jeff and families, Your dad was awesome! I am so sorry for your loss. He and your mom had such a special love and once again they are together. He helped me so much in my years at UMD and both your mom and dad became real friends. He really fostered my love of biology and birds and because of him I was able to study for my master's under Harvey Fisher at SIU and get to know the Laysan Labatross up close and personal. I graduated in 1972 from UMD but all these years we kept in touch with Christmas cards. I will miss him and his hand written notes. Jeffrey and Jennifer - I am very sorry to hear about the passing of my former MS Advisor, your dad. He was very much an inspiration to me when I took took ornithology from him in 1971. He was a very kind and gentle man that I had tremendous respect for - I became an ornithologist myself because of his guidance. I will miss him very much.
