Energy efficiency expert's view: Efficiency saves jobs and money
A major energy resource exists in Minnesota — somewhere you’d least expect. This resource protects the environment and creates jobs.
Our view: ‘Eyes wide open’ on metals mining
A guest speaker in Duluth yesterday long has been a dark cloud over any prediction of economic benefit related to the coming mining of precious metals in northern Minnesota. And he was brought here by Friends of the Boundary Waters Wilderness, a Minneapolis-based anti-mining nonprofit.
Reader’s view: Let’s just name the whole town after Dylan and we’ll prosper
Daniel Greysolon Sieur du Lhut arrived on our shores in 1683, and his name has been synonymous with our area ever since. In 1857 Duluth became a city, and the name has served us well. Jacques Lipchitz’s statue of du Lhut proudly points to our city from the campus of the University of Minnesota Duluth.
Reader’s view: Freethinkers could believe in a god if one showed up
The writer of the interesting June 10 letter, “Sovereignty of God not in atheists’ dictionary,” criticized a previous writer for quoting Scripture out of context, specifically a reference to burned branches in the gospel of John. What could the writer have felt would be a more correct context? As a former committed Christian, I can say it was quoted and used accurately in the original reference.

Iron Ranger's view: NRA’s two sides on gun safety are hypocrisy of the worst sort
