  • Northwest Airlines co-chairman Al Checchi yesterday dismissed rumors that the carrier faces impending bankruptcy, but said an agreement with labor unions is critical to its future. Checchi said he’s hopeful about following through on plans to build an Airbus maintenance bases in Northeastern Minnesota.
