Henry (Hank) Arthur Lake, 61, of Colorado Springs passed away Feb. 6, 2013 with his loved ones at his side, after a short battle with cancer.
He was born May 2, 1951 in Duluth to Dolores and Elmer Lake.
Hank graduated from East High School in 1969, studied at University of Minnesota Duluth, and continued his education in Colorado. He grew up with a love for the outdoors, and spent summers with the family at "the lake" (Aerie Lake). He was an Eagle Scout, a competitive athlete in high school and college, and excelled in swimming. Hank, along with the whole family, worked at Lake's Liquor Store in Woodland.
Hank moved to Colorado in 1978, and married Toni Bell from Denver. He worked for FedEx in sales and later for Wyeth, where he was one of the top salespersons. His life revolved around his wife, and two children, Matthew (25) and Marilyn (21). His children were always first in his world, and he loved being a father. Hank was always thinking about the next camping, hiking, or skiing trip. He traveled extensively, and had an excitement for learning. His core being consisted of his faith. He also had a compassionate heart, which moved him to reach out to others.
Hank was preceded in death by his parents, Dolores and Elmer Lake.
Survivors include his wife, Toni; two children, Matthew and Marilyn; sisters Patty Lake-Abshier of Fernandina Beach, Fla., and N. Birgitta Lake of Minneapolis.
MEMORIAL SERVICE: 11 a.m. Feb. 16, 2013 in Capedona's Funeral Home in Colorado Springs.
