This proposal affects only handguns, and would create a registration system involving people who buy new or used guns. Sonic booms could be heard around the area this week as the 23rd NORAD Region of the North American Air Defense Command will participate in training exercises. The Air Force says some aircraft may achieve supersonic speed.
A state official said yesterday that African “killer” bees could be in Minnesota as early as this year. Art Mason of the Minnesota Department of Agriculture suggested that the bees could be inadvertently brought from Texas in trucks or railroad cars. A six-citizen panel will study and recommend where Miller-Dwan Hospital fits in the future of Duluth’s medical services, Mayor Gary Doty said yesterday. The panel will submit its findings and recommendations to the mayor and City Council.
