Lawrence L. Swan, 88, of Hermantown, formerly of Duluth, joined his beloved wife on their 67th anniversary Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013.

Larry was born Aug. 23, 1924, to Arthur and Elma (Stevens) Swan in Duluth. He married Joyce Nordal in 1946 in Virginia, Minn. He was a graduate of Denfeld High School and went on to serve his country during World War II with the U.S. Army's 101st Airborne Unit.

Larry was the owner/operator of Allied Van Lines for many years until retiring in 1979.

Larry was a member of First Lutheran Church, Ionic Masonic Lodge 186, Scottish Rite Valley of Duluth, Aad Shrine and former member of its director staff, the American Legion Post 71 and the VFW Post 37.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-mother, Sue; his beloved wife, Joyce; and his brother, Robert.

Larry is survived by his children, Stephen (Bobbie) of Cottage Grove, Minn., Colleen (Dana) Rodgers of Duluth and Scott (Debra) of North Liberty, Iowa; grandchildren Danielle and Christopher Swan, Jennifer Koutsoheras, Jeremy Rodgers, Natalee Thompson and Jonas Swan; and 15 great-grandchildren.

VISITATION: 9 until the 10 a.m. funeral service Tuesday, Feb. 5, in the Forest Hill Cemetery Chapel. Entombment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery.

Memorials are preferred to First Lutheran Church in Larry's name.

Military Honors accorded by the Duluth Combined Honor Guard.
