Overnight snow making driving difficult in some parts of Northland

The Northland received fresh coating of snow overnight, and that's causing some difficult travel conditions in parts of the region this morning.

All winter storm warnings and advisories for the Northland have been dropped - we'll only see light accumulation this morning on top of the few inches that fell overnight.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation reports difficult travel conditions across the Iron Range this morning. Roads are reported in fair condition, with patches of snow and ice, across the rest of Northeastern Minnesota.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation reports that major highways are snow-covered in that part of the state.

The overnight snowfall did not reach the upper end of Thursday's forecast, but did total near 4 inches in some areas.

The National Weather Service reports that 3.8 inches of snow fell overnight in International Falls, with 2.5 inches near Orr and Two Harbors, 2 inches near Cook, 1.8 inches at Butternut in Northwestern Wisconsin and 1.7 inches at the Duluth airport through 6 a.m., with light snow continuing to fall.

Some lake-enhanced snow showers will be possible along parts of Wisconsin's South Shore tonight, with 1 to 3 inches of snow possible along the Gogebic Range.
