JANICE WEHMANEN-WIITA

Janice Wehmanen-Wiita, 73, of Duluth, said goodbye to her family in her home during the early morning hours of Jan. 9, 2013.

A woman with a sensitive spirit, a generous and giving heart, a loving and loyal nature, who was boisterously beautiful. She knew no strangers.

Her love for God and a heart to man was best expressed while worshipping at, and volunteering through the Salvation Army in Duluth. Community residents would know her best as “Ms. Christmas Kettle”, bell ringer at K-Mart in West Duluth.

Janice was a beloved employee as the lunch lady known as “Yo-Yo” at Birchwood Elementary. Followed by many years at the Jolly Fisher, Automatic Vending and Burger King in West Duluth. In recent years she wintered in Apache Junction Arizona with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel Larkins and Florace (Larkins) Archambeau; step father Raymond Archambeau; sister, Diane and brother-in-law, David Lathrop.

Loved ones include her sons Jeffrey (Jill) Wehmanen, Joseph (Genevieve) Wehmanen, step-son Terry Wiita; step-daughter, Cheryl (John) Forsberg; grandchildren, Chris, Mike, Jessica and Brittney; great grandchildren, Christopher and Alyssa; sisters, Donna (Bill) Hurula and Florace (Stanley) Johnson; many nieces and nephews.

CELEBRATION OF LIFE: 11 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 20, in the Salvation Army, 215 S. 27th Ave. W. In lieu of flowers, memorials are asked to be donated to the Salvation Army of Duluth.
