Superior woman charged with child abandonment, neglect

A Superior woman accused of leaving young children alone with the front door open in below-freezing temperatures made an initial appearance Friday in Douglas County Circuit Court.

Robin Lynn Hall, 26, faces one felony count of child abandonment and one misdemeanor count of child neglect stemming from a Dec. 27 incident.

According to the criminal complaint:

Superior Police Sgt. Adam Poskozim went to Hall’s Superior residence to ask her about an alleged incident. He saw the front door was open and two children, ages 9 and 3, were running from the door to the windows, screaming and crying. The 3-year-old was wearing just a diaper, shaking from the cold and screaming because she couldn’t find her mother.

Hall was not in the residence. A 1-year-old child was found sleeping in a crib. Syringes were found on a bed in plastic wrapping, and the house was in disarray with toys, clothes, food products and other items scattered on the floor, furniture and shelves.

When Hall returned, she told Superior Police Officer Adam Johnson that she had left the residence to go for a walk and was aware that she left the children alone. She acknowledged the syringes were hers. The children were covered in filth and grime, and officers could find no shoes, socks or winter wear for the 1-year-old.

Hall pleaded not guilty to the child neglect charge. A $2,000 signature bond was set. Hall was ordered not to possess or use any controlled substances or paraphernalia without a prescription. A preliminary hearing is set for Jan. 9.
