Two first babies met at St. Luke’s hospital on New Year’s Day.
Brett and Daphne Amundson, the parents of last year’s first baby, brought their son, Per, back to St. Luke’s on his first birthday to welcome this year’s first family — Christina Soman, Maurice Goggleye and son, Corey, St. Luke’s hospital tells us in a news release.
Per was the first 2012 baby in the Twin Ports; Corey was the hospital’s first baby of 2013 but missed out on Twin Ports honors by several hours. That went to Gilbert David Schuety, born at 12:41 a.m. on Tuesday at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Medical Center, as the News Tribune reported on Wednesday.
Corey Melvin Soman was born at 7:51 a.m. on New Year’s Day. St. Luke’s noted that the baby’s weight matched his time of birth: 7 pounds, 5.1 ounces. Corey, who was born three days ahead of schedule, was named after his grandfathers.
The Amundsons brought a gift for Corey, who also went home with a basketful of goodies from St. Luke’s.
“We just wanted to say thank you to the staff and the doctor, and encourage the parents of little baby Corey,” Brett Amundson said.
