Two high school students will be among panelists in this week’s “Speak Your Mind” program about mental-health issues on PBS North.

Eli Lee, a senior at Duluth East, and Emily Warpula, a senior at Cromwell-Wright High School, will join suicide prevention experts to discuss “Preventing Suicide in Young People” in the program at 7:30 this evening. Lee and Warpula are student volunteers for the TXT4Life program, which allows teenagers with suicidal thoughts to send a text message for help.

“Speak Your Mind” is moderated by Carolyn Phelps.

It follows the call-in program “Doctors on Call,” which is at 7 p.m. This week’s topic is “Orthopedic Problems and Joint Replacement.”

PBS North is seen on Channels 8.1 and 31.1.

Peers helping peers

A peer support group for adults recovering from mental illness meets weekly in Duluth.

The National Alliance on Mental Illness Connection group meets at 7 p.m. Mondays at Peace Church in Christ, 1111 N. 11th Ave. E. Trained facilitators who also are in recovery lead the group.
