For those and for every other excess veggie or fruit you grow this season, donate them.
Hunger-Free Minnesota has launched “Good to Grow,” whose goal is to increase the amount of fresh, nutritious food available to limited-income Minnesotans.
Gardeners can pledge to donate at least five pounds of produce by signing up at hungerfreemn.org.
The website will offer a matching service by ZIP code for gardeners to find a food shelf, meal program or food bank where they can donate.
Signing up has its perks, too. The first 200 will receive a recyclable garden bag.
