Thursday's weather for Duluth and the Northland: Cooler and drier

Today, cooler air is filtering in from the northwest aloft and will cause a little instability, enough to warrant a 20 percent chance of showers. Some areas will take time to shed the nearly 9 inches of rain we’ve seen in Duluth, so flooding throughout the day is still expected.

Luckily, things look drier for the next two days, at least. Highs will be in the low 70s today. On Friday, high pressure will continue to filter in and clear out the clouds. Lows will be near 51 and highs at 74.

On Saturday, a wave in the jet stream will move over, bringing a 40 percent chance of more showers and thunderstorms. Lows will be at 52 and highs

near 75.

On Sunday, skies will be clear with mid 50s and low 70s — a pretty nice day.
