Kathryn Campbell and Karl Wegler, both of Duluth, plan to be married, June 9 in St. Michael's Catholic Church in Duluth.

Her parents are Scott and Celine Campbell of Duluth. His parents are Gregory and Michelle Wegler of Duluth.

The future bride, a 2008 graduate of Duluth East High School, is pursuing a bachelor's degree in communication and French at the College of St. Benedict in St. Joseph, Minn.

The future groom, a 2008 graduate of Duluth East High School, is pursuing a bachelor's degree in applied mathematics at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md.

Scavenger surprise

Karl flew home between summer military trainings to surprise Katie. He wasn't supposed to be home for five more weeks!

He planned a scavenger hunt, and he was waiting to propose at the last clue, which was Brighton Beach.
