Overwhelming response to Garden Tour thanks to Budgeteer story

Editor,
I am writing to thank the Duluth Budgeteer for the article and photographs about the 2011 Western Garden Tour put on by our church, Norton Park UMC. Your news reporter/photographer Caitlin Pendleton did an outstanding job with her story and pictures. We know it was a major reason this year’s tour was our best ever! We had an overwhelming response of more than 200 people attending this year’s tour. They came from all over the area, including Two Harbors, Knife River, Cloquet, Prior Lake, Eden Prairie, Minneapolis, Poplar, Superior, Fargo, and as far away as the state of Kentucky! There was a group of relatives (who came in matching shirts) who gather together each year from some of the areas listed above and go on a “garden tour.” How fun and fortunate that they chose ours this year. We are sure the article had something to do with it.
Your paper has always been willing to support us over the years, and we very much appreciate all you have done. Again, we thank you so very much and want you to know how much it meant that you took time to come out to our little “country church in the city” and see it for yourself. How nice of you!
