Wassail Bowl
Norton Park United Methodist Church, 436 N. 79th Ave. W., will host its annual Christmas Wassail Bowl at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 5.
Meet New Life
A new church has opened up in the Airpark. New Life Lutheran Church is located at 4424 Venture Ave. David Norland is its pastor and mission developer. Christmas cookies
There will be a Christmas cookie sale from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Dec. 11, at Norton Park United Methodist Church, 436 N. 79th Ave. W. Cost is $2.50 per dozen. Other treats will be available for $3 per dozen.
Feeling blue?
Hope United Methodist Church, 301 W. Marie St., will host a “blue Christmas” service at 7 p.m. Dec. 14 for those who have trouble feeling “in the spirit of things” during the holidays — whether it’s related to the death of a family member, a recent divorce, job termination, etc.
Christmas tea party
The next Christian Women’s Gathering will be held at 10:30 a.m. Dec. 15 at Barker’s Island Inn (in the Michigan/Ontario Room). The theme will be “A Christmas Surprise,” and the featured speaker will be Cloquet singer Sharry Waldriff. Call (715) 398-3175 for complete details.
Relay for Life fundraiser
Cookies and crafts will be sold from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, at Forbes Methodist Church in Proctor (33 Grove St.). Proceeds benefit the local chapter of Relay for Life.
Scandinavian bazaar
Bethesda Lutheran Church, 204 Fifth St. in Carlton, will host its “A Touch of Scandinavia” Christmas bazaar from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4. Call 384-4501.
Scandinavian buffet
Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 4831 Grand Ave., will host a Scandinavian dinner buffet from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4. Cost is $12 for adults and $5 for kids (those 4 and younger get in free). Call 624-3648 with questions.
Wild game feed
Elim Lutheran Church, 6101 Cody St., will host its seventh annual wild game feed at 6 p.m. Dec. 11. Cost is $20 for adults and $10 for children. Call 624-2690 for reserved seating.
Sing for CHUM
CHUM’s annual free holiday concert will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, at Mitchell Auditorium on the St. Scholastica campus. Performers include Sarah Lawrence, Bill Bastian and Lon Weaver.
Cookie sale
Hermantown’s Peace in Christ Lutheran Church, 5007 Maple Grove Road, will hold a holiday cookie sale and breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 4. Breakfast is $4 ($2 for children) and cookies are $6.50 per pound.
Lutefisk and meatball dinner
Grace Lutheran Church, 5454 Miller Trunk Highway, will host its annual lutefisk and meatball dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. Dec. 10. Call 729-9054 for details.
Thursday prayer group
Salem Covenant Church, 339 N. 59th Ave. W., hosts a prayer group from 9 to 10 a.m. every Thursday. It will continue to meet weekly until there are enough women to start a community Bible study class. Call 626-9133 with any questions.
