Just Friends at UPC
The musical group Just Friends will lead the worship service at 10 a.m. Sunday, July 25, at Morgan Park’s United Protestant Church, 830 88th Ave. W.
‘Real or Mystery?’
“Real or Mystery?” is the theme for the next Superior Christian Women’s Gathering, which will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Barker’s Island Inn in the Michigan/Ontario room. Eric Hofstad of Carlton will speak on conservation in the forest and Lisa Fernelius of New Hope, Minn., will give the presentation “Things are Not What They Seem.” Cost is $11; includes program, meal, tip and tax. Neighborhood picnic
Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity, 2701 W. Third St., will host a neighborhood picnic in conjunction with Neighborhood Night Out from 5 to 8 p.m. Aug. 3 in the church parking lot. There will be pony rides and a moonwalk for the children, live music and door prizes. Hotdogs, chips, watermelon and ice cream will be served. All ages are welcome and there is no cost to attend. Bible School
Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity, 2701 W. Third St., will host Vacation Bible School for children ages 4 to fourth grade Aug. 16-20 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the church. Crafter or artist?
Hope United Methodist Church is looking for crafters and artists for a show to be held Oct. 30. Call 724-2266 or e-mail office@hopeumcmn.org if you’d like to participate.
Good tunes, eats
Lester Park United Methodist Church, 5401 E. Superior St., will host a free-and-open-to-the-public summer concert series and barbecue at 6 p.m. every Wednesday in July. Come enjoy food, local bands and performers in the outdoor beauty of the summer evening. (Advance notice: The church will also host a barbecue celebrating National Night Out at 6 p.m. Aug. 3.)
Brighton Beach gathering
Lester Park United Methodist Church will host worship services by the lake every Sunday at 8 a.m. through Labor Day at the Pavilion on Brighton Beach in Kitchi Gammi Park. Call 525-4373 or www.lesterparkchurch.com.
Third Wednesdays
On the third Wednesday of each month, Concordia Lutheran Church is hosting a community event called “Food, Fellowship and Fun.” The event begins with a summer meal at 6 p.m. for a donation of $3/person ($12 family maximum). Following the meal, participants are invited to join in a variety of activities, including soccer, crafts, games and a time of fellowship. There will be offerings for all ages and abilities regardless of the weather. Join Concordia for an evening of summer fellowship. Please call the church office at 728-4229 with any questions.
