Lines move quickly at first regional clinic for seasonal flu vaccine

The region's first large public clinic for the hard-to-get seasonal flu vaccine was experiencing no problems and short lines today.

The region's first large public clinic for the hard-to-get seasonal flu vaccine was experiencing no problems and short lines today.

By 2 p.m., health-care workers had administered about 400 doses of the seasonal flu vaccine in the lobby of SMDC's First Street Building, 420 East First St. Though some lines formed shortly before the clinic opened at 10 a.m., the wait was down to about 10 people by early afternoon.

SMDC plans to administer 13,000 doses of the vaccine, both spray and injection, at the clinic. The shots will be available from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The seasonal FluMist is $56 while the seasonal flu vaccine injection is $48. Many health insurance plans cover the full cost of the vaccine.
