The lake is getting a little sloppy with all the warm temps. We are not letting trucks and wheel houses out right now due to the shore line is getting very muddy and wet. Once out on the lake its not too bad but the ice does have quite a bit of water on it in some places. An ATV or snowmobile is you best way to travel on the lake right now. The ice is still thick and good since it is still holding the water so pick your path to your favorite hotspot and start fishing. There is a good sized pressure ridge that popped up on the north side of our road but it fades out around 4 miles. The North shore is the place to be for crappies right now with a few coming in everyday. I have not seen a big school come in yet but there is always that chance. Like normal, drilling holes and moving is the key to stumbling across a few of those big slabs.
The snowmobile trails are not looking so good right now. The are many patches of grass and dirt showing through. The trails in the woods and swamps are the best right now since they are protected from the sun. If we get another snow fall, which is entirely possible, we could get our trails back in a hurry. Keep your fingers crossed!!
