Prosecutors: Alleged phony lawyer violated release order

FARGO, N.D. — Prosecutors are seeking to arrest a man accused of impersonating a lawyer around the country, saying he violated the terms of his release while awaiting trial. Howard O. Kieffer, 53, of Duluth was released in September after pleading not guilty to mail fraud and false statements. Under the terms of his release, Kieffer was told he could not represent himself to clients as an attorney or a consultant.
