Hot, dry winds fan Northland wildfires
DANGEROUS CONDITIONS: Combine a week without rain, nearly 40 mph wind gusts and temperatures hitting 80 degrees. Mix with dead and dry grass, leaves and brush, and the Northland had the perfect ingredients Sunday for nasty wildfires. A fire south of Superior burned across 650 acres, said Joe Gallagher, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Lake Superior Area forest supervisor.By: John Myers, Duluth News Tribune
