Local view: Irish: Separating the lore from the love

I am conflicted whenever the 17th of March rolls around. My disenchantment is partly due to my first impression of St. Patrick’s Day in conglomeration with my family heritage and all things Irish — an impression I got on a blustery day decades ago.
