Reader’s view: Assault rifles aren’t sold to the general public

I’m becoming rather concerned about the language used in our current gun-control debate. “Assault rifle” continually gets used, often incorrectly. I believe gun-control advocates like this term because it sounds scary and threatening while ignoring the truth that actual assault rifles are not for sale to private citizens.
