Reader’s view: Catholics who don’t follow doctrine are hypocrites

It is a matter of public record that when John F. Kennedy ran for president in 1962 he vowed not to let his Catholic beliefs influence his carrying out of the duties of office. He was heading to campaign in the South when he made the vow and feared his Catholic faith would cost him the strong southern Baptist vote.
