Grand Rapids' Viren hopes to make splash at state girls swim meet

Solveig Viren hopes the third time really is the charm. The Grand Rapids junior makes her third appearance at the Minnesota swimming and diving state meet this week and is hoping a state title (or titles) is on the horizon. Viren is seeded first in the 100-yard freestyle and third in the 50 free in the Class A meet, which begins with Friday’s preliminaries and ends with Saturday’s finals.
