It might not make sense to you, Tony, but it doesn't have to. They might think your opinion doesn't make much sense, either.

I have no problem with someone not liking Congressman Oberstar, even though he always wins reelection by landslides -- so, if you don't like him, you are in the minority. But, for people to turn their dislike of Oberstar into indifference as to the indescribable tragedy of the Haitian earthquake, just does not make sense.

When Haiti starts paying the bills that Oberstar dumps in my lap, I'll worry a little more. Until then, I can't afford to fix the rest of the world (you know, those people who hate us) every time something goes wrong. How about the U.S. takes a year off and lets the rest of the world wipe the hands and blow the noses of everyone else and see if they still hate us.

Dont be obtuse, while you were looking at Haiti, the unions got a excemption to the health care tax. Thats good if you are in a union, not good for the rest of us.

Wow, some people can't help but take snarky pot shots at congressman Oberstar, even when the rest of the world -- including Oberstar -- is focused on the tragedy in Haiti. How sad that a few members of our community are so mean and petty and small-minded, they care about nothing but themselves, but have to obsess on their own needs when an entire nation of people is suffering.

Tony first of all "snarky " is not a word. If you are going to chastise other people please do it in english. Second the tragic earthquake in Haiti is truely a disaster of epic proportions, that is obvious, what isn't so obvious is why our congressman does'nt feel the need to explain to his constituents how or why the the house health care bill is a good deal for us, or why I would need an invite to his town hall meeting, or thats what he called it. That will affect 350 million people, me included.

The Red Cross estimates 50,000 dead. Our Congressman points out how the next few weeks will be critical and some folks feel compelled to make snarky comments. Some of you people should be ashamed of yourselves -- while the people of Haiti are experiencing unimaginable suffering -- you choose to say "big deal." Why the DNT posts such comments is beyond me, but I guess they might reveal that "compassionate conservatism" is an oxymoron.
