Werent there once snow fences along the parade route keeping the crowds back?

If KBJR went mobile and the Parade went along the whole of Superior St I think it would be a friendlier event. Presently all too many people are being squeezed into too small of an area. Proper coordination of the various units with airtime commitments would also help move the parade along.

Its not the commercials holding the parade up, its the on street interviews and the dance group performances.

Before KBJR moved from its Superior Street location to its current site, the parade route ran in the opposite direction, ending in front of the station, instead of beginning there. No gaps in parade formation, but frequent stoppages as the various floats and bands were "reviewed" at KBJR. At least when things stall, there are performances to watch (bands, dance troupes, ect) rather than the long waits between acts common today. Maybe it's still feasible to reverse the route in future years?

You gotta love the logic of R.S. - This parade is much bigger than the dinky little one he watches in his hometown, so it should be easier to manage and have fewer gaps. Yeah, that make total sense.

I thought the parade telecasts were not actually live, but on a few second tape delay. wouldnt that keep this thing running more smoothly?

Is the parade being televised. Maybe that would help.

A word about the college students at the parade: Last year, my young daughter and I were surrounded by a group of college students from UMD. I was dreading the rowdiness and language that I assumed would come with our company. I was quite humbled by my harsh thoughts as I found this group of young people to be the most fun, respectable, rowdy-in-a-fun-way group of people I would ever want to watch a parade with! They danced and sang to the music and cheered for the kids in the parade! It was truly a night to change heart and to get into the season of peace and love for me!

Since it's unrealistic to expect the rude parade watchers to stay back on the curb where they belong so the little kids and elderly in chairs can see, why not put up yellow tape along the route? That way, only the really, really rude people would be out in the street visiable to all. And yes, the numerous gaps in the parade have always put a damper on my family's enjoyment of the energy and fun atmosphere projected by the parade entrys. KBJR, let's get rid of the gaps please!
