Malban says his client is a very nice young lady. She may be, but she is also one who 1) was obviously intoxicated after having visited two bars on the night in question, 2) lied to friends about what she hit that night, 3) not only hit the 18-year-old but drove with him on the hood of her SUV for 30 feet, 4) then made a swerve to dump him off the hood (so she wasn't drunk enough not to know he was there), 5) did not come forward until well after the fact, and 6) has left a young man in a coma with traumatic brain injuries. Sure, she doesn't want to face the consequences of her stupid actions of drinking and driving. I just hope she realizes fully the consequences now.

Perhaps we can all understand Ms. Gronski's motive to escape from her predicament, but at age 27, one should have learned to take responsibility for one's actions. Cause and effect. Had she stopped and reported there would be less charges. Will there be charges for aiding and abetting, or did she park the car in the chiropractor's lot by herself (in that condition) and then walk home? Cab - then there will be a record of that pickup. Honesty is still the best policy in the long run.
