This article should open a few eyes to say the least...The questions it opens are several. First is Judith Karon is the Director of Human Resources and her assistant is the school boards own Mary Cameron..Now why are they asking a Communications Instructor (yes that is what she was hired for) Dr, Pearlman to do this investigation, could not the Director attend to this serious matter...or how about Ms Cameron..oops she was running for school board (i forgot) now i know Dr Peterson-Pearlman is a wonderfull lady but you would think..nay you would assume that the University would pay this its due diligence and have the actual director do the investigation of this very serious matter or even Mary Cameron in between interviews and running for office. Now i know Rod this is long overdue but let the punishment fit the crime

It is time for UMD to "lighten up" and stop imposing its draconian police from sitting in judgement of others they deem not in compliance of proper behavior. As a former Resident of Duluth now living in Charleston SC I can tell you, that calling someone Darling or Honey, or commenting on how good they look is in fact complimentary.

After interviewing 16 women Deborah Peterson-Perlman’s investigation revealed numerous allegations including ‘a pattern of sexually inappropriate language and behavior, tickling, kissing, hugging, invitation to back rub, invitation to his home and answering door without a shirt on, romantic overtures, acting as though he was stripping, violating personal space, inappropriate personal questions, inappropriate phone calls and text messages, retaliatory behaviors, attempting to kiss undergrads and romantic encounters. What does it take to get fired at UMD? This is a costly lawsuit just waiting to happen and the potential financial exposure is staggering. The average sexual harassment judgment has risen to $530K and a former Knicks employee won an $11 million verdict recently. See Deborah Peterson-Perlman's disturbing report.

Katherine Martin is the real coward in this scenario. Evidently she believes in selective justice (only when it acts in her favor). Her relationship with RR makes her unable to make a just decision. On many levels, human, moral, political, and procedural, she should recluse herself. Perhaps, her superiors could make the decision for her. It might mean taking Katherine off her bully pulpit sooner rather than waiting to the end of the academic year. I ask Chancellor Martin's boss to remember the saying: "all that is necessary for evil to prevail is for men and women of good conscience to remain silent". Bravo to the strong women who are taking on the tyrant and her predator.
