Even if they both were drunk it is still her fault. She just made it ten times worse for her self. If this happened to me I would hope somebody would of turned me in if i was to drunk to make the right decision. I know people who were drunk and have hurt people worse then this and got off a lot easier by turning themselves in,

Who does she think she is, Ted Kennedy?

Regardless of what the young man was doing, she was completely at fault and deserves to be punished severely. However, he should have been walking facing traffic so he could jump out of the way if someone was getting too close. There are no sidewalks where I live and I walk almost daily. I bet I have one close call a month and I walk in the daylight facing traffic. You have to anticipate studid drivers.

Even if the kid was drinking, she was behind the wheel and hit him. How did HE force her to drive off and hide instead of stopping and calling 911 right away?

It gives me chills to look at this vehicle and know what happened to cause it. Thoughts to the family..wow.

Tips? Thanks to tips the vehicle was found? Where in the heck is this young womans sense of personal responsibility to turn herself in ASAP? If this had been my husband, daughter or newly licensed 16 year old son who had been driving (or myself for that matter), I'd have taken one look at the vehicle and dialed 9-1-1 to turn them in. Tragic for all yes (for different reasons) but again, consequences and personal responsibility for our actions.

Kudos to the Duluth Police (again) for finding this person. In America, it's still legal to be walking outdoors at 2:30 in the morning. Maybe not the safest thing you can do, but legal.

JT - As far as i can tell, the only accounts of him drinking at all are coming from people's comments and they are pure speculation, why are you trying to make this his fault?

Julie is a good person who made a wrong choice. Not a single one of us can say what we would do unless it has happened to us. My thoughts and prayers go out to all parties involved.

susan, it doesn't matter. He was an 18 year old. He can be out walking on Rice Lake Road at 2pm or 2am. By your reasoning, if my girlfriend wears a short skirt it's ok if someone rapes her.
