This is a tragic situation, whether or not the young man was drinking or no is not relevant... SHE hit him with her car, and judging by the amount of damage shown in the picture, whe was driving quite fast. I pray he will recover and that she will learn from this situation. I assume she will serve time for this and will, if she has any integrity whatsoever, deal with this for the rest of her life. Had she stopped and immediately called the police, I might feel differently...but leaving him on the side of the road is criminal.

>>Julie is a good person who made a wrong choice. That might be the dumbest thing that I have ever read on these boards. Are you kidding? She did not shoplift...or get in a fight.. or use drugs. Those are all 'wrong choices' that might be made by 'good people'. Running someone down, leaving them to die, and hiding is not something that a 'good person' does. That is the definition of a bad person.

At last Julie B and I agree on something. I can't believe this woman would just drive away after hitting another human being. I hope he pulls through. Sad story. I wish people would pay more attention when they're behind the wheel of a car.

Regardless of WHAT her reason was for erratic driving.... YOU PEOPLE ARE MISSING THE POINT. This woman was driving AFTER HAVING HER LICENSE SUSPENDED. Strike #1. She struck a human being WITH HER CAR. Whether it was because of alcohol or because of not paying attention... she hit someone. Strike #2. She then LEFT THIS BOY on the side of the road to die and drove away to hide. Strike #3. I don't care how "nice of a person" she is.... 3 strikes and you are OUT. It does NOT MATTER if this boy was drinking all night or has never had a drink in his life-- he was out WALKING, which, last time I checked, was completely legal here, no matter what time of day or night. He is a victim, and shame on all of you for assuming any differently. My prayers go out to this poor boy and his family as they deal with the consequences of this woman's bad decisions.

Drinking isn't the only reason for erratic driving. I was on my bicycle in a bike lane going against traffic when I noticed a vehicle approaching crossing the white line designating the bike lane. I nudged as close to the curb as I could, this idiot passed me looking down text messaging. I was glad I was going against traffic even though some drivers don't appreciate it. This girl made a poor choice in leaving the scene of an accident and trying to hide her involvement. A poor young man is fighting for his life in a hospital and she refused to step forward, let us all see what the courts think of that.

What is sweet about a girl who is driving with her license suspended, and also not stopping? There is a multitude of errors in judgment here; not just one error. And what is this about thanking her for her honesty? What honesty?

Let me start out by saying this young man in MY NEPHEW, and I again find myself having to post a comment because some people do not get it. The story is, is this young man was walking down a public road on the shoulder, he was struck by a vehicle and left on the side of the road to die. That is the story, for those of you assuming that my nephew was drinking (whether he was or not - we have not received word that he had) is totally unacceptable to me and my family. I find myself appauled at what some people will say to remove guilt from and obviously guilty party. This so called "woman" deserves EVERYTHING that she gets. I pray for her soul, like I pray minute of everyday that my Nephew will pull through this and be able to live a normal life. God bless all of those people in Duluth who helped to catch this person and special thanks to the Media and the police department!

I hope that she ends up in jail for many years of her life as she deserves it. It scares me to death to think that there are people on the roads like her and driving a vehicle. I hope that this young man will recover soon from his injuries and this woman will have to live with this the rest of her life. Sounds like she didnt deserve the priviledge of having a driver's license to begin with. How irresponsible.
