Micheal S.: perhaps the City is realizing that the number one source of revenue is sales tax, not parking meters. By removing barriers to business, they will get much more in the coffers via sales tax. Thanks out to the private lot owners as well!!

Come on! So it costs a little bit of money to park downtown and in Canal Park. Most people don't give a thought to the fact that they they are wasting money on gas as they allow their cars to stand at idle while waiting in the DQ drive thru or the Walgreen RX drive thru or perhaps, at a stand still in construction zones. Have some perspective.

Bring the parking meter issue up for a vote. I bet the majority of every Duluthian will vote to remove these meters. And get rid of the parking cars out in the street on Superior Street, downtown Duluth, bring Superior Street back to 4 lanes, like it was built to be. Whoever thinks up these ideas on streets, have their heads in the clouds. I'm serious, having the rear end of a car on a busy street hanging out is not functional. It does not serve a purpose. There is too much traffic for 2 lanes and 4 lanes will improve the look of Superior Street as well.

If you read the story, this is not just about parking meters. Several downtown merchants are opening their lots FREE in the evenings for this event. So if it's rainy or snowy, you can park in a lot FREE and catch a shuttle bus. It's generous of them, and it's good news. Recognize a good thing when you see it.

You are right bob w. the City MUST be flush with cash as they REFUSE to force payment from Cirrus Design for their $250,000 in past due lease payments, some of which is now 10 months past due with the last payment received in January. And how much do they owe Comfort Systems? Do we have local minority investors in Cirrus for mayor and chief administrative officer?

Good thing the meters and all that are free when the majority of people go to Bentleyville anyway. They don't run meters late at night. The are free after 5ish-6ish. They don't even check the meters on the weekends that often unless there is a big event either. Whoop-dee-do!!!

remove every parking meter in the city of Duluth. These meters say one thing, Duluth is not a friendly city to live or visit. When I grew up as a child, my mom and dad parked our car, walked into a business, spent money, never having to worry about walking out too our car too a parking ticket, after spending our hard earned money. Get rid of all these parking meters. Sell them on ebay. Tax payers already paid for them. Use the money for street repairs.

This is good news. Fun (and relatively inexpensive) evening for the family; a memorable one for kids and seniors. It's a hit every year. Good job!
