They got the last one because of soaring evergy costs. Then the price of evergy dropped to a point below the request. Where'd that go?

Oh, but wait until Obama's "cap and trade" legislation passes. That will make this increase look like peanuts.

Well, if costs keep going up, we'll soon see multiple families living in single homes due to the costs of running the home.

The executive compensation at Allete (Minnesota Power’s parent company) rose nearly 100% between 2004 and 2008. See Morningstar for the gory details at http://quote.morningstar.com/insider-trading/Executive-Compensation.aspx?t=ALE. Why should consumers get slapped with a 20% rate increase when the CEO compensation skyrockets from $990,000 in 2004 to $2,220,000 in 2008? The nearly 130% increase in pay is an egregious excess for a company that’s been an average performer.

So, we go with the increase. The energy, hopefully including alternative sources, Wind, Geo-thermal, Solar. It seems reasonable, BUT, when all is saved, our prices will not decrease. That is the usual case. Pass future savings to the consumer, then we'll talk. Richard

Call me crazy, but I think it's worth it. Nothing good happens in this community without an MP logo on it. I'd like to know how much they spend each year on charitable events and community sponsorships. Plus, we can't count on the mines to keep our rates low forever and I for one am more than willing to pay more for energy if they can assure me that my money won't end up in Bin Laden's wallet. Energy independence will reestablish us as the one and only "land of the free." Whatever it takes.

A 20% increase. Really? Does this go directly to Al Gore? I wish I got a 20% increase this year!

Wait - I though going green was going to save money and create jobs...? Imagine how many jobs are going to be added to the payrolls of all the small businesses now that they have to cough up another 20% to pay for their electricity.
