I love it!!! Ignorant voters put politicians into office that push enviro-wacko policies backed by junk science, and then people wonder why are we getting hosed with constant rate and fee increases? It is truly laughable. Just wait until Husseins Cap and trade costs kick in, doubling your power bills. Just wait until Husseins free money (stimulus) costs kick in. The MN Power 20% increase will be reflected upon as "The good old days". Keep electing fiscally stupid politicians. We are starting to reap what the ignorant voters have sowen. Cities in the northern tier of this country will become ghost towns because nobody will be able to afford the energy costs to live and work here.

The Midwest is going to die! Most power generation in the Midwest is coal based. When Cap and Trade comes into effect, we will see a huge decline in manufacturing jobs in this region. The crazy part of this is that without Global Climate Policy, all the manufacturing and industrial jobs will continue to move to China and India. We are part of a global economy, and without global oversight on climate legislaton, we are basically handicapping our economy. Go China!

Going green costs green backs. Just wait until the Obama administration passes Carbon legislation! If you think this rate increase is outrageous...just wait! This will be a drop in the bucket!

Non existence of global warming oops, I mean global climate change will cost the taxpayers billions and for what? The planet has been cooling for the last 11 years. Brazil drills for oil over the U.Sthat is being paid by the U.S., France builds nuclear over the U.S., clean coal technology is ready and we aren't allowed to move it forward. Open your wallets and get ready to pay due to environmental wacko's junk science.

William C. Duluth, MN I can answer your question. Not a dime. All the monies donated under their corporate name comes from consumers. Lower their rates and individuals can do their own donating and maybe you can do yours if you are so incline. Large corporations have this all figured into their budgets, they get the write off, you get to pay.

MN voters chose represenatives who placed the 20% renewable requirement on MN Power. The theory that "green energy" is cheap and free is misleading. The truth is there is a lot of infrastructure cost people forget about. Further these wind turbines don't actually pay for themselves until after more than 20 years of operation. Keep in mind that MN Power hasn't reached the 20% goal that MN requires of them, so there is more rate increases to come as they try to achieve this requirement. Also, just wait and see what happens if Cap and Trade is passed... also, what do you think will happen if we see a switch to electric cars. Supply and demand will drive your rates sky high.
