Hey, we can always move to an area served by power co-ops. There are plenty to choose from in this region. But, you get what you pay for from Minnesota Power. As for all the people that link this to global warming, don't forget this is a national security issue too. We will pay higher costs in the next few years, but the long-term paybacks are huge. Companies like Minnesota Power use wood fuel and wind towers, which creates jobs in our region. Where are our coal mines? Where are our oil fields? You'd rather have your energy dollars pay for workers in the desert than in your own backyard? I betcha these are the same people that buy cheap products from China instead of American-made.

Does my silence support a government takeover of banks, automobile companies, public health care and health care insurance, a plethora of non elected czars, the politicalization of environmental issues, and all other things politically correct -- all for the good of the people. Yes it does, and so does your silence. Let me see if I got this straight...We are all urged to conserve electricity which will lower our power bill, this causes a decrease in revenue for MPL, to maintain their levels, they need to increase there rates to compensate for the decreased revenue. Appears to be a vicious circle.

Think this is bad? Just wait! Obama said HIMSELF that he estimates CAP & TRADE will increase energy costs 90 PERCENT. And LOTS of jobs will be lost to much fewer "green" jobs. MN Power isn't the "evil empire." Can you blame them for not wanting to take a bit hit? When milk, bread, or gas prices go up, if you want the product, you break out your wallet - same with energy. (and no, I have NO affiliation whatsoever with MN Power or any other energy source) WAKE UP, PEOPLE!!! The environmental regulations haven't even BEGUN to kick in. Gov't wants limits on your energy use and will tax you & businesses HEARTILY if you use more. What will that do to large business and jobs? Figure it out. Then, call your senators and representatives!

It's unfortunate to have a price increase as CEOs get paid millions and many folks are only hanging on by a thread. It's important to note though, that green energy will be cheaper when all of the costs of the energy are figured in. Global warming aside, burning coal kills people and creates huge medical bills. This is an external cost of producing energy that isn't figured into the price, but we pay it. There is no such thing as clean coal. The carbon sequestration methods being attempted are poisoning our water. Please people - focus - we need to leave a livable habitat for our children. The costs will be paid off many times over.

Great, just what we all need....that is why they say corporations pay no taxes--they just pass it on to us and we pay for everything. So now we pay more to pay for the increased exec salary and everything "GREEN"? It should be 'RED' not green because we have no more money left. Pretty soon they will have us all right where they want us, living in tent cities with outhouses and campfires so they can all feel so good about 'saving' the planet. I say we need to stop this NOW before we are all sacrificed to the god of green. Problem is, they are all in power and we have no say...except to flush the toilet and get rid of everyone. Then we need to keep paying attention and not let things get so far EVER again.

It would be nice if there was another option for electricity or natural gas just like fuel oil. But until then we will have to spend ten of thousands on our own solar panels and wind turbines in our yard for electricity or spend thousands on changing the heating system our house. Nothing changes here. Bills keep going up and the quality of representation and jobs keep going down. What will happen when the community is over taxed and over fee-d? Who will be left to entertain the tourists?

Here comes the consequences of allowing the anthropogenic (man-made) Global Warming HOAX to survive. However, it's not too late to change our course...

Connect the dots, everyone. This isn't about going green. B. S. There is no Global Warming. It's about destroying what's left of America's struggling industry. It's about transforming us into a weak Socialist nation, making us responsible for the green development of third world counties. It's about penalizing successful entrepreneurs by giving their hard earned wealth to welfare losers. It about destroying American principles. This picture is starting to appear. Wake-up people before it's too late.

what we need is another company to compete with minnesota power. because of their monopoly, they can do whatever they want for no good reason at all. get some competition out there, and all these extra fees and charges will be dropped.
