Matt Y. Why would there be a 105 Mb limit? If they run fiber to each house then you are talking a standard ethernet network which would move at 1000 Mb (Gb ethernet) across the switches and servers. Even PCs come with Gb cards in them with the cheap models. And no, no one needs this kind of speed. But think of it this way. The big water main that runs down a city street, does that all go to one house? Nope. So take that Gb that is running down your street and split it out a bunch of times because everyone in the area gets a cut when there line connects. Brings it down to what the standard person would need. And just because you have a Gb connection to your house doesnt mean that it would be wide open. Cable and DSL have the ability to limit speeds on individual connections (Internet speed packages, pay for what you need) and so does fiber. Network managment is just that, a managed network, not a free for all. Would be nice if they knew where all of this money is going to come from. Sounds like a very nice service, but a very expensive venture to me. Would not be good to tax people to help pay for this then have ISPs sell them the service so they can recoup their investment. While the taxpayers never recoup their money.
