I dormed in two colleges and always kept healthy dried foods (longer shelf life) and fresh fruit as snacks in my dorm. Luckily at both schools there were co-ops nearby, so getting a huge variety of healthy stuff from the bulk sections was easy: dried fruits like bananas, pineapple, apricot, dates, raisins, cranberries, mango. Also nuts or trail mixes, granola, and even organic animal crackers rather than a vending machine bag of cookies. Learning to eat healthy snacks as a reward rather than breaking down and going to the vending machines (which have actually grown to have healthier choices) was big for me because I snack constantly and eat smaller meals.
